Thank you to Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust for allowing us permission to use their land to place this cache, please respect their property and rules. This cache is located on rt 1 in Orland near the junction of 176 . There's a parking area, please don't block the gate. Feet, bikes,& horses are allowed, also vehicles on weekends in summer and fall. Please hike around and enjoy our beautiful Wildlands.
I thought it was pirates I thought it was thieves, turns out it was workers just clearing debris, then some kind hiker took it to Bucksport down by the bay, where it sits in an office still to this day.My gps quit working, it just went kaput. So I did it by memory and the letterbox way. Follow the road with the sign for Valley Road(formerly Main Road). The cache is about 4 tenths of a mile in.I did it by memory and might have messed up. Go past Esker trail and Popple grove,and just around the bend and a little more you'll see two big Pines and it's there you seek. If you see the great Mountain you have gone to far. On the right there is a bench for sitting, and just across from that there's an old parking spot, go to the end of the parking spot and on the right is a small white birch, just to the left are two little rocks ones made of granite and looks like a heart the other has veins of shiny white quartz(please leave them for the next cacher). Go ten paces over the bank, please be careful, head for the small fir tree. Look to your right and you should see a pile of debris. My home is on the edge of that debris. My roof really quite nice I've got an old rusty bolt holding it in place so all the brave cachers can find what they seek. (Please put it back the same way) There is a sea shell that looks quite out of place, find it and your in the right place. If any kindly cacher would post coordinates I would be very grateful.This is a very beautiful area with an opportunity to see wildlife of all kinds and the view of Great Pond Mountain is fantastic. When you log your find on Geocaching.com please let us know if you hiked around and if you saw anything interesting. The logs will be forwarded to the Land Trust to help them make management decisions.
