At the start of this multi you are at an old
ferry landing. The ferry connected Hinnøya with the mainland. You
have to use a car og a boat. Hence the high terrain
rating.>
Fergeleiet har stått ubrukt av biltrafikken siden åpningen av
Tjeldsundbrua 22. oktober 1967.
Lenge før man våget å drømme om ei bru over Tjeldsundet, var det
behov for kommunikasjon mellom Hinnøysiden og fastlandet. I gamle
dager var det lokalbefolkningen som besørget persontrafikken over
sundet. Det kostet 1 krone.
I 1930 ble ferga "Pillarguri" satt inn i trafikken over
Tjeldsundet. Takstene var 2 kroner for en bil, 50 øre for voksne og
25 øre for barn. For storfe kostet det 1 krone og for småfe 50 øre.
Både smått og stort fe har benyttet brua siden Kong Olav foresto
den offisielle åpningen av brua i 1967.

The ferry landing have not been used by car
traffic after the opening of Tjeldsund bridge October 22nd
1967.
Long before they dared to dream of a bridge over Tjeldsundet, a
transport between mainland and Hinnøya was needed. In the old times
the locals brough people across the strait at a cost of NOK 1 (€
0.12) per person.
In 1930 the ferry "Pillarguri" was brough into action. The tariffs
was NOK 2 for a car, 0,50 for an adult and 0,25 for a child. For
large animals (cows/horses) the fare was NOK 1 and 0.50 for small
animals.
Both small and large animals have used the bridge after the
official opening in 1967 performed by King Olav V..
The cache initial content: stickers, läckerol, soap and a
