Counting Salmon aka Prickly Pond IV Traditional Cache
Knotaklu: I recently tried to visit the cache location. I'm convince that there is no way the cache survived the flood and the change in the river's course. This is the third cache I've placed in the area but the first that nature has removed. Since it is not possible to replace the cache in the same location, the only option is to Archive it.

This cache is located in little used Cavanaugh Ponds King Co Natural Area next to the Maple Valley Highway. There are several large ponds next to the Cedar River. This is The Place to see water fowl, beaver activity and salmon counting on the Cedar River.
Unfortunatley the original Prickly Pond cache, it's replacement and it's replacement vanished. This is such a great little spot, especially in the fall with State Wildlife Personnel counting salmon, that I decided to give it one more try.
Park just off the Maple Valley Highway near the Riverbend Trailer Park @ 47 27.830 / 122 06.702. It's a flat four tenths of a mile hike to the cache site, mostly road. Along the way you will pass several large ponds on the left and the Cedar River on the right. If it is Fall, be sure to check out the salmon counting station at the end of road near the cache. I'd also suggest checking out some of the small side trails to the ponds and the river.
Please, Please, Please, ensure that the cache is well hidden when you leave so this one doesn't vanish also.
