Geocache Description:

This is a multi cache which involves a short walk through Tilesheds Nature Reserve in South Tyneside

The Tilesheds Nature Reserve was created in the early 1990s with extensive involvement from the local community. The pond has breeding mute swans, moorhens and coots, whilst the plantations are maturing into good habitats for birds such as warblers and thrushes. During this cache you will come across the ‘Green Man’, one of a number of sculptures that have been produced as part of the Forest of Imagination sculpture trail. The Nature Reserve itself forms part of the Linnet way which is a five mile walk linking the River Don at Brockley Whins Station with
the Coastal Walk at Marsden, passing through the heart and soul of the Great North Forest.
This route is named after a small bird -
the Linnet - a finch which breeds in gorse bushes and hedgerows along the Linnet Way. Look out for flocks of these bonny little birds, with their dancing
flight and twittering song. The Coordinates above take you to an information board erected by South Tyneside Council. There is ample parking off the main road between Boldon and Cleadon at Tilesheds a few metres away from this board.
The cache is suitable for wheelchair users, cyclists and and walkers alike. Dogs will love it!
To find the coordinates of the first point you will need to read the history of the area on the information board and answer the following question...

In which year did Mathilde Frank, the world's first female professional pilot, tragically crash her aeroplane during a display in the area?
Answer = ABCD
The next point is Lat N54deg 57.’3BC Long W 001deg 25.’ (476-ABC)
At this point you will have to find a small plastic tub which contains a magnet. This magnet is then used to retrieve the clue for the next location from a nearby pipe.Please do not remove the pipe - there's no need to remove it from its mounting.
