Geocache Description:

A 4 stage multi-cache around Clayton Community Park.

This 4 stage multi starts at a memorial located near parking lot of the lower baseball field in Clayton.

Memorial: Phil Hassel was a friend of mine even though I only knew him from little league baseball. He was an experienced umpire that volunteered his time to benefit the kids of Clayton Valley Little League. Even after his children were beyond the playing years, he was very involved in advancing local little league. I recall Phil from the trainings we attended. He would speak fondly of the players, remembering them and actual plays and events that had happened around them. He was never hot-headed but would always manage the game “like a Fire Chief watching his team of Firefighters”.

Several years ago, Phil was diagnosed with cancer and passed very shortly after. We miss you, Phil.

Now for the multi-cache: Read the memorial plaque. Find the year he was born and the year he passed. The coordinates for stage 2 are:
N 37° 55.6XX – XX the age he was when he passed
W 121° 55.24Z – Z is the District # of umpires that paid tribute on the plaque

It should take less than one hour to complete the entire cache. The cache site(s) are near a school. It is not necessary to enter the school grounds to complete this cache. Also, it is not necessary to hop any fences to reach any of the cache sites. Find the easiest way to approach the sites and stay on the trail(s) as long as possible. The park hours are from sunrise to sunset. The gates are locked during the hours it's closed and the Clayton Police aren't known for their 'understanding natures'.

None of the cache containers are the same. The final stage is a large cache. Please trade items that are larger than a baseball. Also, please close the lids, and take care in re-hiding the cache containers. Especially on the final step…no part of the cache should be left visible.

It is important to watch your step on the final leg…not so much for snakes but there are many ‘milk and mud making mooing machines’ are in vicinity. Please do not antagonize them. Yeah…you better watch for venomous snakes in this area, too.

The cache is starting with:
Nerf type football
Flashlight
Blue back deck of playing cards
Travel type coffee cup
Spinning thingy noise maker
Light/red light – flashlight
Red back deck of playing cards
One pair, plus one, AA batteries
Two green antenna headbands
Two fresh bottles of water
Logbook, pen & pencil
