NOTE: The best place to park is in the campground parking lot but it is closed as of Nov. 1,2022 for upgrades to the campsites. You will be hiking quite a bit more if you chose legal parking elsewhere. Expect to spend some time on this hike and the park closes at 11 PM. Park in the campground visitor parking lot. See additional parking waypoint. 12.292. Only registered campers are permitted to drive past the campground office.
Start your hunt at the trail head found at the listed coordinates. Bambi and Stumper have placed a series of white reflectors along the trail to guide you on your way to the cache.
Things you need to know:
- Expect the trail to be muddy in many spots even during a dry spell. - Trail tacks are placed relatively close together to make this a child friendly night cache. - Allow about an hour. Directions to return to the parking lot are inside the final container. There are no trail tacks to follow if you choose to return the same way you came in.
- Look for the reflectors on both sides of the trail and at every intersection.
- Stay on the path until you find 2 markers on a tree.
- SEE MAINTENANCE NOTE FROM 10/24/2020 REGARDIND NEW APPROACH TO THE FINAL.
- When you are ready to leave the cache, follow the reflectors on the back side of the trees back out to the path, turn left and then follow the “double dots” into the campground. Please be respectful of campers, as tents may be pitched very near the trail. A walk downhill through the campground will return you to your vehicle.
- The brave-hearted may want to return to the path, turn right and retrace their steps to “track back” along the same trail they hiked in to the cache, but be aware that there will be no reflectors to guide you if you choose to do so.
No spotlights, please. You will often be near camp sites.
Original contents include items related to the night, some Halloween items, Alien Slave TB, and the White Jeep Travel Bug “Broc”.
NOTE: This trail is open to snowmobiles when the ground is frozen with at least a 6" base of snow.
