Schluchtcache im Nationalpark Gesäuse

Der Zustieg von oben, eine sehr eindrucksvolle Canyoningtour ist hier beschrieben: Link

Wem dieser Zustieg zu wild ist, kann diesen Cache mit einer Kajak/Kanu/Raft-Tour verbinden. Einfach die Enns runterpaddeln bis man zur Anlegestelle "Bruckgraben" kommt.

Zu Fuss gehts auch: Vom Bahnhof Johnsbach etwa 15-20 min den Geleisen flussaufwärts folgen bis man zur Schlucht kommt.

Auf jeden Fall sollte man den angebrachten Schildern Folge leisten und den grossen Schwemmkegel nicht betreten, er ist Brutgebiet des Flussuferläufers.

Wer von unten kommt steigt in der Schlucht auf bis er den Ausgang der Engklamm erreicht (nicht zu verfehlen).

Der Cache ist etwa 40m unterhalb dieses Punktes auf der orographisch linken Schluchtseite versteckt. GPS-Empfang ist sehr schlecht, also Spoilerphoto mitnehmen. Bei Gewitter oder Regen kann der Wasserstand in der engen Schlucht sehr schnell um mehrere Meter ansteigen.

Another possible approach would be by boat - Paddle down the river Enns until you reach a sign which says "Bruckgraben". A german descrption of this part of the river can be found here:

Of course an approach by foot is possible as well: Start at the trainstation in Gstatterboden und follow the railroadtrack for approx. 15-20 min until you reach the bottom of the canyon.

Regardless of what approach you take, don't step on the large alluvial fan of the creek. It is a breeding place for a rare species of birds - the Flussuferläufer.

Continue up the canyon until you reach the mouth of the narrow gorge. The cache is hidden approx. 40m below this point on the left side of the creek. Reception will probably be very bad, so take the spoiler photos with you. Do not attempt this cache during snow melt or heavy rain - there is a significant danger of flashfloods in the narrow canyon.
