Geocache Description:

Note the above coordinates are NOT where the cache is hidden. They have no bearing on where the actual cache is hidden.

A group of geocachers have been selected to perform a daring rescue mission. One of their fellow geocachers has been shot down in enemy territory and it is your job to find and rescue him. The batteries in his walkie-talkie are almost dead so he has to communicate his position using the fewest words without letting the enemy know his position. He only has a few seconds to get his message across. He says “ I’m between mike mike whiskey 6 and kilo 5 charlie papa I’m also between juliet 1 delta hotel and golf 2 whiskey papa” “Helpppp”… as his voice fades…

This is more a test of geocaching skills than a puzzle. There are many ways to find him, including an exact mathematical solution and graphical ones. Because several methods can be used, some will be less accurate than others. I have hidden the cache so that you have a good chance even if you don’t use the most precise method. You will need to have an understanding of geocaching, geometry, mapping coordinates, and the phonetic alphabet. To determine if you are in the general area a checksum may be used. The sum of last 3 digits of the north and west coordinates should be in the range of 1104 to1144. For instance if the coordinates were: N 40 10.400 & W 70 10.724 The checksum in this example is 400+724 = 1124. Units are in degrees and decimal minutes. Note this is not where the cache is hidden.

The terrain is difficult, take it slow and easy. There are two basic approaches; the easy one will take you down a hill and the other through a boulder field. Be especially careful if you end up in the boulders. You will have to bushwhack for a .1 mile so you might want to mark a waypoint when you leave the trail.
