Geocache Description:

This cache was placed for the “Go and Get Em 7” event. Please do not start the search for the cache before 6 p.m. Oct. 14, 2005.

The following statement is attributed to Henry Miller, the American writer:

"A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation. Lend and borrow to the maximum -- of both books and money! But especially books, for books represent infinitely more than money. A book is not only a friend, it makes friends for you. When you have possessed a book with mind and spirit, you are enriched. But when you pass it on you are enriched threefold."

In support of the sentiment expressed in this quote, we have created a cache designed for the trading of pocket books. The container is an ammo box that is suitable for paperback pocket books. Each book is contained in a ziplock bag. When trading books be sure that the book that you are leaving is securely sealed inside a bag.

In order to find the cache you must determine, in each case, the name of the author who wrote the book in which the character appeared. The number of letters in the last name of the author will be represented below by the letter associated with the character. For example, if there are 9 letters in the last name of the author who wrote the book in which Arthur Dent appeared, then F = 9. Two three digit numbers are formed: FGH and IJK.

F. Arthur Dent.
G. Lije Baley.
H. Tom Joad.
I. Waverly Jong.
J. John Galt.
K. John Yossarian.

At the posted coordinates there is a tag of the form [B uvw D xyz]. There may be a minus sign in front of one or both of the numbers.

The cache can be found at a bearing (B) in degrees true of [FGH (+ or -) uvw], and distance (D) in meters of [IJK (+ or -) xyz]. If there is no sign in front of a number on the tag, then the number should be added. If there is a minus sign in front of a number, then the number should be subtracted.

GPS accuracy can fluctuate in this area, so patience and perseverance will be beneficial in finding the waypoint and the cache.

Good reading.
