** IF YOU HAVE LOGGED FERN VIEW IN THE PAST, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO AGAIN AND COLLECT ANOTHER FIND. FERN VIEW RELOCATED IS NO WHERE NEAR THE ORIGINAL FERN VIEW HIDING SPOT. WE SIMPLY WANT TO CONTINUE THE LIFE OF ONE OF OUR FIRST CACHES AND SO HAVE REUSED THE CACHE, LOG BOOK AND NAME**
A HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
This cache was previously located in Morningside Park but retrieved due to storm damage. After doing a physical check of the location and area following a storm. We discovered what is often referred to as a widow maker. A large, heavy branch hanging well above the cache location. This branch had broken of from its tree and was being held, precariously above the cache location by very thin branches. In order to avoid any serious injury to cachers we have relocated it further south along highland creek. Much of this area is still in a state of repair since the flooding in August 2005 and many of the park entrances are still closed.
This cache is now located in an area that wasn’t to heavily damaged by the flooding (ENTIRELY SAFE LOCATION). However if you follow the paved path further west from the cache location, you will find lots of damage. Two bridges either washed away or damaged by the flooding. A tennis court ravished by the high water and many trees broken or placed along the shore line.
