KYOWVA Geocachers
Mary Magdaline Pitts of Argillite made headlines across the country, and prompted a nation's cry for justice, when she became the victim of deadly child abuse. Now a part of Greenup County's history, the little girl was buried at Riverview Cemetery in Greenup Dec. 29, 1927, after a funeral attended by thousands - the largest such service for child ever attended, historians say. The girl's death brought national attention to child abuse, and can keep attention focused on prevention. Her parents Robert Pitts and Marie Frazier were convicted of this crime and sent to prison.
