Geocache Description:


This is my first cache and it is well stocked with goodies. There are a couple of relics I recovered while diving on a Civil War shipwreck 23 miles off the South Carolina coast -hence the "Shipwrecked" in the title. They are as I found them and except for the bullets, all are brass. If you want to clean them, contact me and I will give you instructions on how to do that.

Park in the parking lot of the Richland County Recreation Comission building. Walk across the field toward the pond and into the woods. The cache is a tupperware type container wrapped in comflage tape. PLEASE be sure to re-hide well as the area is frequented by locals who fish the pond.

The contents are:

From 1865 shipwreck 23 miles off the coast of South Carolina – none are cleaned, exactly as I found them when diving the wreck:
7 inches of forearm including brass end cap- 1855 Enfield musket
Brass trigger guard – 1855 Enfield
3 brass knapsack hooks
Brass sword scabbard throat
Brass sword hanger
Pewter canteen spout
A few Spencer bullets and round balls
Cased ball point pen
Clicker animal trainer toy
2 - “I Make a Difference” lapel pins
Three “You Made My Day” coins
Carabiner key chain
Pack of miniature play money
Letter opener
Really neat wrist lanyard – mostly used by scuba divers for lights, etc but great for other stuff as well – like your GPS
"Portraider" wooden geocoin
Log book and pencil
FTF – Leopold II 5 franc silver coin, dated 1876 (same size and weight of US silver dollar) in small blue drawstring pouch. Its in the bag with the log book.
