Geocache Description:

The Whatcom Spirit Quest is a series of geocaches that will take you to small rural cemeteries of historic interest throughout Whatcom County. This cache is NOT a container with notes about someone's grandfather! The geocache is located at the corner of the creepy mausoleum building.
Blaine Cemetery

In the spring of 1888, citizens of Blaine and vicinity met and formed the Blaine Cemetery Association. On June 11, 1894, a deed was recorded in the records of Whatcom County, Washington Territory, for 5 acres to be held in trust for the Blaine Cemetery Association. Additional land was donated in 1908 and again in 1914.

On December 17, 1934, the Blaine Cemetery Association transferred to the City of Blaine all property, records and other holdings of the cemetery. The cemetery is now approximately 10 acres in size. The first burial was Aretas Whitcomb in June 1888. The first death recorded is Hattie Kingsbury in 1871 at age 1 year.

The cache is a small angelic container. Please park with care, be respectful, and cache in, trash out. The cemetery is closed from sunset to sunrise.
