Jättegrytor skapas genom att en löparsten i ett häftigt vattenflöde skarvar ut en kavitet i det fasta berget. Det finns tre slags jättegrytor: isälvsgrytor bildade under inlandsisen, älvgrytor i forsar och fall samt strandgrytor på klippiga stränder
Jättegrytorna vid Nor är isälvsgrytor. Det var ursprungligen sju, men en förstördes när berget sprängdes bort för att bredda vägen. Av de sex återstående är den översta just i begynnelsen att skapa en stor gryta. Här ligger löparstenen kvar.
Den största grytan är över 1m i diameter och 1,5 till 2 meter djup mätt mot det sluttande berget. Geologernas (SGU) åldersbestämning är 12600 –11500 år före vår nutid.

The biggest one is over 1 meter in diameter and 1,5 to 2 meters deep. It was created under the ice-age, 12600-11500 years ago.
