Geocache Description:

*** Hooray for the FTF, Langly!!!***

Margaret Chandler was a real live "Rosie the Riveter"! She stayed at home, building planes for the war effort, while her future husband, John Day, was away fighting. She was at Chance Vought Aircraft Factory, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She built wing assemblies for the F4U Corsair, the legendary scourge of the Jap Zeroes in the Pacific Campaign. When John returned home, they were married and Margaret returned to the more lady like side of life. She made a home, cooked and cleaned, shopped and fussed over her hair and all the other things that "girls" do. She had two sons, the oldest of which was Scotty (named, by the way, for Robert L. Scott, author of "God is my Co-pilot", who is still alive at this writing; a retired General of the US Air Force). It just so happens that Scotty (most call him Scott) is the male half of "DayHunters". Margaret left us at way too early an age, when Scott way just a few days shy of 10 years old. But what a legacy she left! We decided to put travel bugs out into the world in caches honoring both John and Margaret Day, true "Greatest Generation Americans". We are hoping that this will bring about a sharing of stories of your war "heroes", also. You will be looking for an ammo box, chock full of goodies, including a "Rosie the Riveter" travel bug! Some of the items that started out with Rosie: From the "Rosie era" A Rosie tin, poker chips, coasters, dog tag, scarf... From the "Back to being a girl" era Hair clips, faux pearl bracelets, girly goodies... From the "Mom" era Baby bottles, plastic play food items.... The "Rosie the Riveter" TB Information about Margaret/Rosie. Hope you enjoy both of the caches and can relate the two in the spirit we hoped! Scott and Linda
