This is just off the main road that takes you to the Cave Lake
State Park area outside of Ely. Park at the Steptoe Creek Trail
area. It is just a short hike across the bridge, up the trail to
the left that then curves to the right. Not much further and your
gps should take you about 15 feet off the trail to your right.
Please rehide the ammo can so it will stay in place during the
runoff in the Spring.
We drew an Elk and Deer tag this year for this area. We were going
to hide this cache in our camp spot but didn't want anyone to find
our special place off the beaten path. Also our area requires a
high clearance and 4x4 to get to. We decided the paved road to Cave
Lake would be a better place and get more visitors. We hope we made
it easy enough that if you make the effort to go after it you will
be able to find it. Oh yes we did fill both our tags. We think we
put in some pretty good swag so come prepared to trade accordingly.
