This cache has been archived.

Skookum Bear: Cache Owner,

As you have not indicated that you have visited your cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities.

Please do not respond to this note by sending an email reply - your response will go to an unmonitored location and disappear into the ether instead of being sent to me. If you need to contact me regarding this cache, please do so using the link on my Profile Page

Thank you for your contribution to geocaching.

Geocache Description:

This is a cache for the extreme geocacher who wants a little more action and adventure when they are out chasing tupperware. To complete this hunt you will need to bushwhack through old growth forest, negotiate rivers with ruined bridges, brave terrifying heights and either climb near vertical slopes or be able to hike up to 8km... the latter being my preferred route. Good luck!

  • Start by packing youself a nice picnic lunch then head out along the scenic Highway 4. The posted coordinates can be ignored as they are a randomly selected spot on Cameron Lake near your actual starting location, the Beaufort Picnic Site. When you reach the picnic site determine the position of the "Find This" object in the above photo.

  • From the position you determine for the 'Find This' photo proceed approximately 312m at 211° true. Leave the picnic in the car for the time being. This position is very rough due to the difficulty in getting a satellite lock. My position is +/- 50m in a north/south direction. This should take you near a small but noisy waterfall. Right next to the waterfall a GeoScavenger GPS Tag has been nailed to a tree. Note the number!

  • Going uphill from the ruined bridge you will come to a large downed tree that you can walk/duck under. Another GeoScavenger GPS tag has been nailed on the underside of this tree. Note the number!

  • Back at the position you determined for the photo at the picnic site proceed 2765.6286m minus the number from the waterfall tag on a bearing of 528°03’29.341" true minus the number from the tag under the tree. This will bring you to a large 4 digit number beginning with a 1. Be sure to take your picnic with you this time!

  • Finally, from this large number project a distance equal to the last two digits plus 20m at a bearing of the last 3 digits reversed minus 275 degrees true.

  • The cache location is marked by pink flagging attached to an appropriate object.

Have fun and be safe!
