Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE IS DEDICATED TO "RUBBER DUCKY". Simple terrain. Simple cache find. Great for taking kids to -- they will enjoy the find! YOU WILL ENJOY!

This cache is very unique. It is a DUCK LOVER'S CACHE. The contents of this ammo box are filled with duck related items and toys for the kids. Why hide a DUCK LOVER'S CACHE here? This is the manufacturing location of the country's finest wood duck decoy's. This cache has been hidden with the owners permission. You are ENCOURAGED to introduce yourself to John, the owner. View the fine duck artwork museum which exibits the exquisite detail and craftmanship of each wooden duck. Viewing the facility is a great educational experience for kids and adults. This company has been in business in Indiana for over 20 years. Most of the ducks are carved from White Cedar which grows in the North Woods close to Lake Superior. They are carved from a full sized log. The company's simple secret is to just "carve off everything that's not a duck." They have to use a log to start from so they can actually see the duck while it's still inside the log and properly line up the grain pattern so the pattern is on the duck's back instead of the bottom. Their goal is to enhance the natural grain of the White Cedar using the colored stains which works with the growth rings, knots, and unique pattern of each piece of wood creating a piece of artwork that is special and like no other. The process, including the staining of the Classic Ducks, are trade secrets and have never been duplicated by ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD. They create all stains and colors and apply them by hand. The staining process is ONLY done by family members. Each duck is handled over 27 times in the manufacturing process and have several hours of labor in each peice. YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED BY THE MUSEUM AND PROUD THAT THESE ARE MADE LOCALLY IN INDIANA.
