Geocache Description:

10AM - 3PM

Saturday November 5th

Picnic Area along our 2-mile section

This will be the third cleanup of our adopted stretch of highway along 321 on the way to Townsend. Signs have been installed at each end, recognizing our efforts to keep this section clean.

Our section starts near the picnic area and extends toward Maryville to Doc Manning Lane, just past Foothills Parkway. The last cleanup took us about 4 hours with 6 people, but this one should go much faster since we will have more people show up. We do ask that, if you know you can make it, please post a Will Attend note to the event page so that we can get an accurate count of how many people to expect and can bring enough safety vests for all.

Things to take note of:

- Be aware that this cleanup takes place along a busy highway and you will need to be on the lookout for traffic at all times. You participate at your own risk.
- Anybody who has not done so will need to sign a TDOT release form before we get to work. I will bring plenty of extra copies with me.
- Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to participate, and anybody between the ages of 12 and 18 must have their parents sign an additional release form.
- For safety, nobody should pick up anything before/after the event or outside of the orange signs.

Things to bring:

- Gloves; leather are preferred though you may want to layer them with latex gloves underneath if things are wet.
- Long pants
- Rain gear (in case the weather was as bad as it was last time...)
- Any sticks or tools you may want to use to pick up trash with.
- Plenty of Water
- Any snacks/food you may want

We will bring plenty of bags and safety vests, and will be given a pair of orange warning signs to put up along the section to warn motorists. The plan is to clean up one mile at a time, with two teams (or more if we have enough people) starting at the signs and working toward the middle. When done, we'll have a short break, move to the lower section, and continue.
