Geocache Description:

Just a little jaunt (little over a mile), but the catch is you need a partner and good communications!

You take the high road, and I'll take the low road!

Being as I have played with amateur radio, I've naturally heard of the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL.com) and one day it occurred to me to try out a radio relay cache. Welp, my thought has finally been birthed into reality.

You can drive very close to the above coordinates, and if it's not too busy you may even be able to park right near here.

Your mission is to start at the above spot and find two sets of coordinates. Each of these is a trailhead. The one to the west is the high road, and the one to the east is the low road. The high road had a bit of elevation gain and drop, and the low road is almost completely flat.

Along each of the trails there are stage markers. While it may seem that there are a lot of stages in this multi, they are all identical hides as the first, and all simply lead you along the trail until the final few. This high road trail has coordinates for the low road, and the low road trail has the coordinates for the high road. So, you will need 2-way radios or telepathy or megaphones to communicate the coordinates to your compadre. Eventually the trails converge, at which point the teams meet up and head on to the final stretch to the cache over some slightly uneven and varying terrain. Total round trip will be in the range of a little over a mile.

I would very much suggest that the teams trade routes on the way back, as the high road has some fantastic vistas of the valley, and is well worth the trip. Plus, southbound on the high road is MUCH easier and gradual for the elevation gain. However, if time is of the essence (or you're just plain pooped out!) the low road will offer you a much easier (and shorter) trip back to your vehicle.

Oh, and I would *not* suggest this hike if it's too wet out .. the trails do get muddy and slippery!

More information on the refuge is available here (visit link)

Enjoy!!!

PS: My bad on one of the coordinates. If it says 38 degrees, it really does mean 39 .. I wouldn't make ya walk 69 miles off course and then back! Not *that* evil! Will fix when I can (it's raining again today...)
