Geocache Description:

Welcome to Drop, Texas.

If you enjoy geocaching because you like to learn and visit interesting places, this cache is for you!

Drop, Texas, is on Farm Road 1384 in southwest Denton County. Legend has it that in 1854 the rural community petitioned postal authorities for a post office to be named Dewdrop. When the federal agency announced that Texas already had a town with that name, the residents simply decided to remove the first three letters and adopt the name of "Drop". The Drop post office opened in 1886.

If you just washed your car and/or don't like dust - don't go. Also, if flood conditions exist and the gates across the road are closed, don't go!! It is NOT necessary to enter any private property at any stage, if you think you must trespass you are not in the right spot! Stage 1 to Stage 3 is just under 2 miles, you'll definitely want to drive it. Go slow and enjoy the terrain.

Stage 1: This is not the original school house but was built at the same spot as the original. Turn toward the intersection and imagine a Baptist Church and a Methodist Church standing side-by-side, enjoying a Sunday afternoon ice cream social. Notice the old stone structure across the road which is all that's left of the Drop General Store. This is a cammoed micro containing the coords for Stage 2.

Stage 2: I love this location for its peace and quiet, but just imagine a hot summer day and lots of youngsters playing and getting cool here. This is the infamous "Drop Slab". Look for an identical cammoed micro containing the coords for Stage 3.

Stage 3: This is the Graham Ranch and what is left of the old homestead. I've enclosed a picture of the house as it looked after being abandoned but before it burned. Imagine a big ranch 4th of July picnic on the front porch with plenty of watermelon, lemonaide and laughter.

Thanks for taking a tour of Drop!
