You are looking for a standard .30 caliber (7.62mm) ammo can
"tackle box", painted flat black. Other than a rod, which won't fit
in the can, there is probably just about everything you need in
here to get an angling newbie or your little one started. There is
even a brand new light duty spinning reel for the FTF. When
deployed, this cache was packed to the brim, so don't plan on
leaving anything unless you plan on taking something too.
While there are several places in the area to park, I recommend
parking at 39°26.814N, 77°22.573W - this is the only place to get
on the trail that doesn't involve walking between houses (still on
the trail, though) or parking on a residential street. Plus you
have the added bonus of being able to get one, two or all three of
rthwrm's Rivermist cache series while you're here.
The original contents of this cache include:
- Logbook & Pens
- 1 Shimano FX-2000 spinning reel, new in package for the FTF -
this is a nice little starter reel for the new angler or for your
little one to get started with.
- Lots of light duty tackle, including:
-
- 2 packages Eagle Claw #8 baitholder snells
- 1 25ct package curlytail white grubs
- 1 package Panfish Assassin black tiny shad
- 1 10ct yellow shad
- 1 silver Rat-L-Trap
- 1 package 6in 20lb leaders
- 2 packages barrel swivels
- 1 6-pack white jig heads
- 1 3-pack plstic shrimp
- 1 11-ct package 1/4oz egg sinkers
- 1 Rapala countdown sinking lure
- 2 ready-to-deploy mini-caches complete with mini-logbooks and
pencils
- 2 travel bugs and a Maryland GeoCoin
Please do not take one of the mini-caches unless you plan on
deploying it somewhere reasonably close to the area and letting me
know when you do so I can go find it myself :-)
Happy hunting, er, fishing!
