Wichita Animal Shelter
The Wichita Animal Shelter is located at 3303 N. Hillside, which is one mile north of the Wichita State University campus, just south of the Hillside exit off of Highway K-96.
The shelter offers adoption of stray and surrendered animals. Kansas law requires all animals adopted from animal shelters be spayed or neutered. The fees charged at the animal shelter go toward the spay/neuter of the pet, their rabies vaccination, and any applicable license. The shelter gives all dogs and cats adopted the first in a series of vaccinations for several diseases common to pets.
If you've lost your pet, the animal shelter is where you want to begin looking. Visit the shelter and walk through to see if your pet was picked up by animal control or brought in by a concerned individual. We also have suggestions to help you find lost pets.
Check out our adoptable animals!

If you are planning on adopting an animal from the Wichita Animal Shelter, please keep this in mind:
1. Take your pet to a veterinarian within 72 hours for a health check up and to arrange for any needed booster shots. Do not use your vouchers unless you are positive the pet is going to be compatible with you and your family.
2. Tell your vet that the animal was adopted from the Wichita Animal Shelter, and we gave it a distemper/parvo vaccination for dogs or a feline distemper vaccination for cats.
3. Please remember that these animals are strays and we cannot guarantee their health or disposition. If your veterinarian deems the animal unhealthy, bring all paperwork we gave you along with a note from the doctor; and we will do what we can to find you another suitable pet or arrange for an refund, if possible.
4. Ownership of a pet is a lifetime commitment. Please choose a pet with this in mind.
5. No refunds will be issued after 30 days.
The following policies are in effect regarding adoption of animals from the Wichita Animal Shelter:

2. All adopted animals must have a rabies vaccination and any applicable license annually.
3. All animals must be provided with adequate food, water and shelter.
4. No animal adopted from this shelter is to be used for any scientific or research purposes or for any sporting activities other than universally accepted hunting or retrieving.
