Geocache Description:

A historical mine with steam boiler dating back to 1870s. The cache was originally planned as a codeword-only stationary cach-u-nut, but ended up a small container

Wellington mine claim is one of several overlapping claims which marked the birth of Little Cottonwood Mining District. It was filed in 1870, and 3 years later, Wellington tunnel became one of the alternate entrances into a vast maize of underground works which continued to mine ore for over 60 years. The original 20 HP steam egine is still here. The boiler was supplied by water by a 2-inch pipe all the way from the springs near Twin Lakes pass - the pump boiler over there houses Hard Bolied Cache now. The same pipeline also brought water to a 40 HP machine at Prince of Wales shaft upslope.
You can spot Wellington boiler all the way from '39Geezer's Sponge Bob Square Cache, but a close-up view is mostcertainly worth it, with the giant ominous-looking fissure of the tunnel entrance in the overhanging rock behind the boiler, its slabs leaning precariously on two-footer timbers.
The container may not be found when the snow is more than a few feet deep, but the bowl around it is a winter classic. Submit your photo report if you'd like to log a find in winter season, and make sure all members of your team carry avalanche transcievers and know how to operate them if you go.
The cache is a red screw-cap canister, about 4 in tall and 1 in dia. It contained small trinkets. Although big goodies won't fit, there are plenty of nooks to hide bigger stuff around.

The cach-u-nut #??? codeword is desribed in the log, basically you'll need to count reall hex nuts on the boiler to come up with this codeword.
