Inspired by the scale model solar system at the Musuem of Science in Boston, this cache uses the main dome of the Naismith Hall of fame to be a scale model sun. The planets caches at the appropriate scale distance.
Mercury, the inner-most planet. At the scale with the dome of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame being the sun, 140' = 1 million miles, Mercury would be a 5" globe a little less than a mile away from our scale model sun. Surface temperatures on Mercury average a toasty 333 degrees F.
The cache is located along River Rd, Agawam.
After you find the cache, if you have time, take a walk up the stairs to the bridge and have a look at the Hall of Fame Dome... this is the same relative size the sun would look like from Mercury. (You can compare it to how the Sun looks from Earth by looking at the tip or your little finger at arm's length.)
Coords seem to be a bit off... If cachers can provide coords, I'll avergage a few more and update. I think the nearby bridge creates some bounce.
