Camo Can Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

OneStepCloser: Well, I left Mrs. OSC and the geo-dogs home and went out today with the waders to try and locate this cache...and I did. The water was almost to my knees at GZ and the ammo can was nowhere in sight...after sloshing around a bit I found the ammo can upside down nestled in a tree root 65 feet from where it was supposed to be...so ammo cans do float!

Mother Nature has seen fit to reclaim this area of the park because this water has been here since July and with it being that deep it doesn't seem likely that we can replace this cache, so it is being archived. Afterall, its unwise to fool Mother Nature!

Thanks to all who visited! [:D]

Geocache Description:

WHY DOES CAMO WORK?

The term camouflage comes from the French word camoufler meaning "to blind or veil." Camouflage, also called protective concealment, means to disguise an object, in plain sight, in order to conceal it from something or someone.

In the late 1800s, an American artist named Abbott Thayer made an important observation about animals in nature that became a useful tool in developing modern camouflage. After studying wildlife, Thayer noticed that the coloring of many animals graduated from dark, on their backs, to almost white on their bellies. This is an important property that is very useful in modern camouflage. This gradation from dark to light breaks up the surface of an object and makes it harder to see the object as one thing. The object loses its three-dimensional qualities and appears flat.

This must be why those film canisters are so tricky to spot!

This is a three stage multi-cache.  The above coordinates will take you to stage one.  From there you will find the coordinates to stage two which is a camouflaged geo-tag.  The geo-tag's coordinates will direct you to the final stage which is a well hidden camo painted .50 cal. ammo can which contains all things "camo."

The initial cache contents are all brand new.  FTF has their choice.
