Geocache Description:

Stages of this cache have been modified! Please read the log and check that you have the most recent version before attempting. Enjoy! Autarn - January 14th, 2007.

This 7 stage multicache covers over 4 km of paved, gravel and forest trails that meander through central Newmarket. Although the majority of the terrain covered is quite easy, some portions of the hunt require a bit of climbing, crawling or scrambling, so exercise caution. Some stages can be done with the help of a vehicle, but the hunt it is best enjoyed under human power. Be forewarned that this multi does not form a complete loop, so be prepared for a little backtracking. As always watch out for muggles, as most of this adventure is frequented by non-geo folk.

At each stage of this multi you will find a microcache made from a specific type of metal. They would actually be better described as ‘microsamples’. All are different and each one is stamped or otherwise marked with its identity, which is necessary for you to decrypt the coordinates for the next location. When you’ve found a microsample simply find the metal on the following table and use that data set to decode the coordinates/instructions for the next stage. All microsamples are about the size of a credit card or smaller, the tiniest being only 1 cm x 2 cm. Some of them are fixed in place while others are moveable. Please replace movable micros exactly as found.

Stage #5: N44° 04.BFG' W079° 27.DJH'

Stage #6: To determine the location of this stage you must project a waypoint using the information from the metal sample at stage 5. The real kicker is that stage 5 is an alloy. It is marked with its common name only and does not appear on the decryption key. In order to decode the directions you must know which two metals make up this alloy. I recommend that you research alloys before setting out on this cache or risk getting hopelessly stuck on this stage. Use the decryption key for each of the component metals to project a waypoint using the following data:

  • Primary metal - Distance: JGD meters
  • Secondary metal - Bearing: FCD.H° true north.

Stage #7: N44° 03.AHD' W079° 27.HAF'

The final is a standard ammo box filled with all kinds of neat swag! Please respect the effort that went into creating this cache and trade fairly. Lets make this a worthwhile find for all the cachers who come after. Please also replace the cache just as you found it. Have fun!
