Woods of Tio Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Canyon226: I am archiving the woods of tio cache as it has been stolen and I am unable to replace it at this time. Hopefully, sometime this year I will put out a similar cache. This has been a fun cache idea over the last 5 years.

Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden near Lake Lowell. To find this Cache you first must find the KEY!

The coordinates given here are only for the general area where the cache is located. This cache is actually hidden somewhere near Lake Lowell. In order to find this cache you must first locate the travel bug "key" and bring it with you to the cache. Here's how it works.

1. First, You need to find the key to this cache. It is the only "key" to the accurate coordinates. It should be located in some geocache in Southwestern Idaho. It's a travel bug named "Key to Tio" TB5CC0. Attached to the travel bug is a tag with the coordinates to the actual location of this cache and a key to the lock on the cache. You might try and locate the Key to Tio travelbug's location at the following link.
(visit link)

2. After locating the travel bug, you will find the actual coordinates to this cache on an attached tag. Bring the travel bug with you to the woods of tio cache location and use the attached key to open the lock on the cache and log your find.

3. After the hunt, please place the travel bug key in another geocache somewhere in Southwestern Idaho (No more than 100 miles from Boise) for the next person to find. Please don't hide the travel bug in the same cache where you found it. And PLEASE do not leave the travel bug in the woods of tio cache!

4. If you remembered to write down the travel bug's number, you'll be able to register it's new location on the website so others can then try and find it.

During the warm weather months you might want to wear insect repellent as the bugs are out.

This cache has not been placed on Deer Flat National Wildlife refuge property. This cache can only be accessed from the Tio Lane refuge parking lot. This parking lot is at the very southern dead end of Tio lane. The lane will appear to be a driveway, but it is actually the gravel lane that leads past the residence to the refuge access/parking lot site. Accessing this cache from any other location will put you on private property and you will be trespassing.

The cache container is a large ammo can with assorted treasures.

11-30-08 I have noticed that the "key to tio" travelbug has been hard to find or it has been lost forever. Because of this, I have placed a spare "key to tio" into service. This spare key is now hidden in my Deer Flat Nature Walk Cache GC185GQ. Attached to the spare key is the actual coordinates for this "woods of tio" cache. After you use this spare key to find this cache, please return it back to the Nature walk cache so the next cacher can use it to find this elusive cache.
