Geocache Description:

The Cusgutter Cascade is a boulder strewn ravine of a thousand waterfalls along the Bristol/Southington Border. Tunxis Trailhead is at N41°38.542, W072°55.328. Cement barriers block the parking area, so it is best to park in the dirt turn outs at N41°38.590, W072°55.335. When the Lake Compounce Amusement park is in operation, you will have to go a little farther south along Mt Vernon Rd to where the no-parking signs end.

This is a four part multi, with each stage having it's peculiar challenges. You will need to project a waypoint with your GPSr, so study the manual if you are unfamiliar with this technique. Remember that "d" is degrees and "f" is feet. Each of the stages will provide the precise coordinates for the location of the next clue. There is one small twist - YOU CAN'T SEE ANY OF THE CLUES! You didn't think this was called Blind Man's Bluff for nothing.....did you? When you get close to the mark, close your eyes. Look inward. Think like a blind man. Rely on your sense of feel, for without that, you will be lost. Each stage of this cache will be punctuated by moments of frustration, intense, eyes closed concentration, and self-doubt. It will be a test for your faith in yourself. When you reach the final, which is an ammo can, and an easy find at that, your gift of sight will be rewarded with a fine view. I have given the difficulty rating of 4 for obvious reasons. That may get worse with the weather. I also gave a 4 for terrain, as there may be a few points where you will need to use your hands and a few others where you just wish you could. Again, weather and seasons play a leading role in this cache, as a spring deluge or winter freeze may make the going a little rough. As for the locations themselves, no stage is more than 25 feet from the trail. Children over 7 might make the trek, but the finds may be a little dangerous. It may be better to let them just watch and laugh at you. Although the temptation will be great, Please don't attempt to move or alter clues in any way so you can "see" them. Not only may this be dangerous, but it will ruin the adventure for those that come behind you. Just e-mail me and I'll be glad to help you out. There are other caches close by if you continue along the trail. The first and second stages are semi-permanent and should not be moved under any circumstances or they will no longer be readable. The first has two rows of numbers. Use them to complete the coordinates N41°38.XXX, W072°56.YYY. The third is an ammo box variant hidden in a conventional way. The final is an ammo can stuffed with well deserved treasures. Good Luck!
