'JACKPOT!! Vernon's Pools' is a simple and straight forward multi cache. Parking can be found on N52 37 590 W002 03 210. The car park shuts in the evening, but there is nearby street parking available.
We only recently discovered this little Essington park and feel it is a nice place for a summer evenings stroll. There currently (30.10.05) are a family of lovely swans who like to be fed and there are many other water fowl around the park.
The name of the cache will be clear to you once you get to the cache site. It has been named after Peter J. L. Vernon, who gave the land to the people of Essington in 2000. Because of the the name we thought it would be appropriate to only allow gaming and gambling related swaps (this does not mean we encourage gambling!!).
The current contents includes an electronic back gammon game, a dutch pack of playing cards (You may struggle with finding the Jack, Queen and King), a normal set of playing cards and some (also Dutch) dart flights and the usual log sheet etc. There is also a little surprise for the First to Find. (will it be snerdbe?)
The area around the final cache is covered with brambles, therefore think carefully about which way to approach it. It may increase the difficulty level in the Summer. We approached it with ease from the North West direction.
Once you've found the second stage, don't turn around and go straigt for your car, but walk around the nearby pool. This will allow for a much more enjoyable walk and it won't take you that much longer.
