Geocache Description:

Drevený artikulárny kostol v Svätom Kríži patrí medzi najväcšie drevené stavby v strednej Európe. Postavil ho od jari do zimy v roku 1774 úplne bez projektov tesársky majster Jozef Lang z Hýb iba s tridsiatimi pomocníkmi.

Wooden articular church behind the village of Svaty Kriz with place for as much as 6000 people is one of the greatest wooden buildings in Middle Europe. The church was built in Paludza between the period of March and November 1774 by a carpenter Jozef Lang from Hybe village with a help of only 30 workers. As he couldn’t read or write, there was no project and he signed the contract on building of the church with three marks.
The church was originally located in Paludza village but had to be dismantled in 1974 because of construction of the dam Liptovska Mara. It was rebuilt again in 1982 in the village of Svaty Kriz, about 15 km from its original location.
