The Hill
Climber multi is based on the Shingletown hiking trails near
State College and Boalsburg. Basically, it is a nice hike with
a multi-cache in Rothrock State forest at the top of the
trail.
This area is open all year but caution should be taken during
hunting season. You will be able to stay on the trails for this
three part multi-cache. Bushwhacking is not required. The trails
are well maintained although they can become quite mucky and slick
in areas with rain and snow. Please plan on bringing a light lunch
or snacks as well as drinking water.
The first stage of this multi is about 45 minutes from the
parking area. GPS reception will be spotty in the lower area of the
Gap but if you put in the 45 minutes of hiking reception will
improve as you go. You will be looking for an ammo can at the final
location. Please return all coordinate markers and cache to their
hiding places. A compass could prove helpful on one of the
stages.
