Geocache Description:


This cache is placed on the Shortoff Knob in the Fires Creek Wildlife area. It is intended to highlight the Rim trail along the Big Peachtree Bald and Shortoff Knob. It is located in the Nantahala National Forest and is a Bear Sanctuary. The vertical gain is close to 1000' per mile is the reason for the rating of 4.5,, The best place to access the Rim Trail (FS#72) to find this one is on the Leatherwood road at the gate.
