Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden a short distance off the main Chinqua Penn Trail. Parking can be found at 36 22.976 N, 79 42.192 Continue on the full loop to enjoy a beautiful 1.5 mile hike through the fields and forest of the old Chinqua Penn Plantation.

This cache was placed as the culminating event in a new outdoor education program run by The Betsy-Jeff Penn 4H Education Center. The ORIENT Project (Outdoor Research In Environmental studies, Navigation and Technology) is a GPS-based middle school science program available to all public and private schools.
The Middle School class at New Garden Friends School (Greensboro, NC) was the first to participate in The ORIENT Project, as a pilot program in 2005. They learned all about latitude and longitude, how to use topo maps and GPSr's, and had a great time in the process! After a day of finding non-public geocaches on camp property, they hid two travel bugs and other goodies in their first public cache.
