Geocache Description:

The village of Bothwellhaugh lies below the waters of the North End of Strathclyde Loch just off the M74, the village which dated from the mid 1880's was built to house the miners of the Hamilton Palace Colliery and it was from the colliery that the village derived it's more familiar name "the Palace (pronounced Pailis)" but the closure of the mine in 1959 and problems with the houses led to the final closure of the village in 1965
