Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the old fire tower road on Elva Knob, you can access the gravel road from the Pine Mountain Trail. Go to the sign where it says Old Mead Homeplace with an arrow and then go out the ATV trail the opposite direction and follow it to the gravel road, then just keep going up the road.

This cache is a Ammo Box. With a few goodies inside. Its a nice quick grab. Please do not climb on the tower or vandalize the facilites at the top. This old fire tower was decommissioned in the 80's after the need for the towers was no more due to the new technology of surveillance planes to detect forest fires. The tower is now used in radio communications for local radio stations. Hiking Pine Mountain with PM_Thumper
