Geocache Description:

A cache and dash, or spend time at the museum and picnic in the
park.

The Chelmsford and Essex Regiment Museum sits in Oaklands Park in
Chelmsford. Not only is it free, it’s two museums in one, the first
is a history of Chelmsford, and the second contains uniforms and
memorabilia from the Essex Regiment throughout its history (just
think of Sean Bean as Sharpe, marching with the “South Essex” in
the Napoleonic wars….) The museum often puts on activities for
children during school holidays. There’s a playpark, tennis courts
and sensory garden in the park. For opening times see the museum’s
website: (visit link)

You can grab the cache when the museum’s shut, but it is inside the
park, so check the park opening times (visit link)

There’s free parking in the museum carpark, or just outside on the
road any time except between 9 and 10am on a weekday when it’s
residents only.

Cache is wheelchair accessible.
