BH: Holly Cottage Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

setsujoku: In that case, it's probably time to retire this one, as I no longer live down south, and only get down there once a month.

It's had a good run, and thanks to everyone that has found this cache.

Geocache Description:

Built Heritage caches take cachers on a history tour of the onkaparina council. This is the second in the series

Established in the 1840's the building was originally a three room cottage which was constructed around a dug-out shelter which now comprises a cellar. The first three roomed cottage was built of wattle and daub and roofed with thatch. Later extensions comprising an additional six rooms were made adjoining the northern wall of the original three room cottage with a corrugated iron roof built over the entire building. The building was associated with the Holly family and is believed to have been built prior to the subdivision of Hackham. William Holly was a pioneer of Hackham and had begun farming in the area by 1842.

The cache is located on the edge of a lovley park, that is heavily used, especially during the christmas period. Stop for a rest, and take in the information.
