or ..."we found this on our way home from work, kinda"
This is for all of the "local" cachers who probably didn't know this was here... I know we didn't.
We passed by this monument "on our way home from work, sorta", and decided to stop to see what it was. Lo and behold, this is the birthplace of San Dimas. It's called the "La Cienega Mud Springs". We didn't see any mud, but maybe Juan Bautista de Anza did in 1774 on his way from Sonora, Mexico to Monterey, California, or Jedediah Smith, who camped near here in 1826 on his way to Mission San Gabriel. Could of been muddy then, don't know.
Anyway, this is an interesting spot to say the least.
The cache is at the listed coords and the monument is just a tad north and east at:
N 34 06.191 W 117 47.899.
There is no parking directly at the cache, but here are some coords for parking just about 100 feet away to the west:
N 34 06.198 W 117 47.930.
Enjoy a little history "on your way home from work, kinda"!!
