Geocache Description:

Ammo can located at site of Pointe Coupee Parish Museum

This cache consists of an ammo can. Several items have been placed in it along with a log book and pen. This is a good site to start learning about the history of Pointe Coupee Parish. I have lived most of my life in this parish and am proud to be a resident here. There is much history in Pointe Coupee and the following web site is a good place to check out exactly what has happened here and how this area developed. Please go to www.pcchamber.org for more information on Pointe Coupee Parish. New Roads is the parish seat and the courthouse is quite a site in itself, but not nearly the best site. There is also the Randall Oak and St. Mary’s Church and many other sites including plantation homes. I have permission from the operators of the Museum to place this cache on their property. It is open from 10:00 AM till 3:00 PM, 7 days a week. Plenty parking is available. The main entrance to the museum is at the parking lot, however, if you happen to get there and the museum is not open, I was told you could use a gate on the opposite side of the main gate. It is not locked and the area is well lighted. The museum operators are aware of where this cache is hidden so if you need a little more help, they will give you a little guidance. They are very nice people and will be glad to help. Ammo can replaced approx. 10/17/13 due to old can beginning to rust and again today 9/1/14 due to it's disappearance.
