This is an easy "cache and dash."
Charles County has many beautiful bike trails. One of the mapped trails is called The John Wilkes Boothe Escape Route. It is 49 miles long and runs along Maryland Routes 488, 6, 232 and 5, making a circle around the Zekiah Swamp. The toughest part of the trail is route 488 because of the long hills, but in the middle of this leg of the ride there is a natural spring, cool clear water coming right out of the ground. There is no sign, no fountain, just a little concrete and some stones. There is a pull off beside the spring where you can safely park your car.
Original contents include: colored pencils, scented candle, pencils, and other small items.
