Geocache Description:

Cache located at a former Iron Ore pond the bank is steep in some areas and will be slippery when wet or snow covered.Area is also used for hunting and fishing may want to wear your orange during hunting season..ca

We also have a few resident Red Tail Hawks that like this area.you may get a close up look at them when you visit.Please DO NOT Block the dirt road it is used regularly by farm equipment.park off the side on the grassy area.

This area was a Iron Ore mine not sure but we are believing in the late 1750s.Ore from here may have been carted to what is now Spring Grove,to a forge named Dick's Bloomery later becoming Spring Forge #3.It was Believed Cannon Balls and bar iron was produced there with the town of Spring Grove emerging form this industry.The forge torn down around 1956 to make way for a new paper making machine.

Cache is a round peanutbutter container painted !!

Be carefull in the cache area watch for those peskey groundpig holes,,path is semi clear not much bushwacking.
