I Love the Stilly #3 - Blue Stilly Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

FluteFace: The time has come to archive this cache. I've been down here twice in an attempt to replace this cache, and have not been happy with what I've found. This last time was just horrible -- the park has become a junky party/dumping area. If it ever gets cleaned up and stays that way, maybe I'll reconsider. Until then . . . anybody for a CITO?

Geocache Description:

Blue Stilly Park is another favorite place along the Stillaguamish River. While I guess river swimming could be fun here, the attraction is a big rock, a glacial erratic, that sits in the river, creating a short rapid.

Like the rest of the lower river, this one has discolored muddy water from the time the rain starts to mid-summer when the river comes down to summer flow levels. Most of this is due to landslides in the upper basins of the North and South forks of the river, largly from the pillaging of the forests in the 80s. But this is a beautiful place to visit, either to fish or to hang out along the river in mid to late summer. And, quite frankly, I consider it beautiful year round. The area has been claimed by WDFW as a conservation area, so you need one of those little stickers that come with fishing/hunting licences, or pay $5 to WDFW before you come out. Or be sharp and be quick . . .

Update on 6/11/06: This cache has been replaced and is now back up and ready for cachers. It has been moved a bit west of its original location, and is still in a container about the same size as the original. Because it has been moved, all prior finders may find and log this cache a second time. 2nd round FTF bragging rights are up for grabs.

Congrats to Lajoie 5 on June 11, 2006 for their FTF.
