Geocache Description:

This 2-part cache showcases lovely Lake Pearl.

Part 1: Find the Facts

Listed coords are the entrance to Lake Pearl Lucianos. Please be discreet and respectful during your search; leave the GPS in the car, grab a pen, and stroll around the grounds.

Imagine what Lake Pearl Park looked like in 1910 with a 500 seat pavilion, dance pavilion, carousel, beach, 40ft. launch, boats + canoes and the first outdoor silent movies! The railroad and trolley brought folks from near and far to enjoy outings here. In the 30's and 40's Big Band music was hot and they packed the dance hall for Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and even Frank Sinatra!

Today Lake Pearl Lucianos is a function hall popular for weddings and social events. The Hockomock YMCA holds an annual triathalon here. The Function Coordinator was kind enough to give me a History of Lake Pearl Park.

Final coords are: 42 04.ACE / 071 21.BDF

Part 2: Find the Cache

Hop back in the car for a short drive to the lake's public access point (the boat ramp) off Elysium Street.
I park here: 42 04.206 / 071 21.331 Trail begins down near water's edge. VERY busy here during good weather - stealth is required. I made some arty bookmarks with pearls of wisdom to begin the trading... Enjoy the views!

William Enegren, Jr. who ran a bakery in Franklin with Mr. Arnold , also ran this seasonal bakery on the grounds of George's Park. After Mr. George died, his widow sold the park to Mr. Enegren who renamed it after his infant daughter, Pearl, and the Lake's name changed from Whiting's Pond to Lake Pearl. Pictured in this late 1920s photograph are three generations of Enegrens. Left to right are Robert, William, Edbury Jr. and Edbury
