Geocache Description:

This geocache has been replaced with a new cache container as part of the Discovering Places “Culture Caching” project. The project features 5 new geocaches that have been hidden around the UK in locations related to the 1908, 1948, and 2012 Olympic Games.

Discovering Places is the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad campaign to inspire the UK to discover their local built, historic and natural environments.

It is delivered on behalf of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games by The Heritage Alliance.

Lee Valley Regional Park is a 10,000-acre park made up of a mix of country side areas, heritage sites, urban green spaces, country parks, nature reserves and lakes, as well as leading sports centers. Much of the southern half of the park was developed to accommodate the 2012 Summer Olympics. The closest development to this cache is the Lee Valley White Water Centre, which will house the 2012 canoe/kayak slalom events.

Lee Valley White Water Centre in the first stage of construction

Lee Valley White Water Centre was the only London 2012 venue available for use before the Games. It will open again to the public after the Games have concluded.

Park at Hooks Marsh car park coordinates North 51. 42.332 West 000 00.532. Free ample places here and quite far away from the busy main road Waltham Abbey. Hard surfaces for most parts of the route only muddy for the retrieval.
