Geocache Description:

1/23/2010 - Cylburn is a city treasure. The new visitor center is finished, they plan to open in the spring. The park is now open in daytime, via the newly-paved main road off Greenspring.

Many small gardens here are dedicated to noteworthy persons. This Baltimore resident was a Nobel prize winner, son of Russian immigrants, once a president of Johns Hopkins University, and a father of three boys, who delighted in a simple and unassuming life.

Congratulations to this year's Nobel Prize winner in physiology and medicine, Professor Carol Greider, who holds the Daniel Nathans chair at Johns Hopkins. The prize was awarded for her 1984 discovery of telomerase, an enzyme that maintains the length and integrity of chromosome ends and is critical for the health and survival of all living cells and organisms.
