Loop De Loop Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Prime Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

BACKGROUND:

Johnny Thunder released his infectious Loop De Loop (based on a children's song titled Looby Loo) in 1963, and it soon reached #4 on the Billboard Chart. This was the only Top 40 hit for Thunder (the nom de plume of Floridian Gil Hamilton), who also briefly performed with The Drifters. According to SongFacts, during the recording session Thunder's brother-in-law held up the lyrics so that Thunder could read them while playing drums.

THE CACHE:

You'll be visiting an under-utilized (at least by cachers) section of Memorial Park. The park, of course, lies just off Houston's Loop 610. Appropriately enough, within the park you'll find Memorial Loop Drive, where you'll encounter hundreds of joggers and walkers (although bikers are not allowed on the trails in this section of park). Moreover, once you approach the cache site you'll discover a smaller loop within the loop within the loop.

Enjoy the loopiness of the area!
