Read the short trip brief and then figure out the answers to the
questions. From them you can come up with the Coordinates to the
Geocache Container. The listed websites should be sufficient in
helping you answer the questions. Feel free to email me if you have
questions.
The Geocache is a cammoed ammobox containing Geosheet, Logbook,
pens, and pencils and various trading items. You can park pretty
close to the container. The Cache is on Airport property but NOT in
fenced area. You are pretty visible so try and not act too
suspicious. Don't worry, nobody's watching you from inside.
Permission was received to place it there. Please rehide it as you
found it.
There’s no charge for the ground school and the Cammo is not off
of my Baron. I don’t land like that!
2230Z Barondriver is
flying his Beech Baron N76VC. He is heading back to Colonel James
Jabara airport in Wichita from a day trip in Dodge City. Out west
of Lake Cheney, he tunes in the Wichita VOR in the NAV radio and
spins the Omni Bearing Selector around to the inbound course. It
reads 083°. He listens to Jabara’s ASOS and the Ceiling and
Visibility are good and the winds at the airport are 150° at
15..hmm..a little crosswind. Then he contacts Wichita Approach and
makes the initial call “Wichita Approach Baron 76 Victor Charlie,
30 west of Jabara..Five Thousand Five hundred inbound to Jabara
with the weather”. Wichita Approach gives him a code of 0453 which
he puts into his transponder. He is asked to maintain 4000’ until
he passes the inbound corridors to runways 19 right and left at
Wichita Mid-Continent airport. He starts down and as he passes
north of the airport, Approach calls out traffic at 9 o’clock and 2
miles ..a Cessna 310 inbound to the airport at 3000’. Barondriver
looks, finds him, reports the traffic and watches it fly underneath
him. Soon Approach tells him that he is clear of traffic…”no
traffic observed between you and Jabara..radar services terminated
..squawk 1200.” Barondriver switches the COM radio over to Jabara
Unicom ..calls base for 18 and is soon on the ground with his
passengers.
