2008.01.06 Update: This cache was originally a three
stage cache but the clue for the original stage 2 has weathered
away. So, I incorporated the original stage 2 clue into stage
1.
The land preserve is a wonderful place to go for short or long
walks. There are quite a few caches in the area but room for more.
For this cache you may want to take a calculator and paper or a
high tech substitute. In addition to the traditional swag there are
some things of value for the first few finders. Finally all stages
and the final cache are off the ground so the snow shouldn't hamper
finding this one.
As far as the cache goes:
I found the location for the cache while looking for some of the
other caches in the South section of the preserve. It should be an
easy find once you get close. The stages of this cache are along
the route to the cache and shouldn't take you too far off
course.
Stage 1: Go to the sign at N 42° 13.292 / W 85° 40.268
(Main Coordinates) and using A=1, B=2, C=3 etc. add up the letters
in the company's name. Then multiply the result by 2. Then add 30.
Plug this number in N 42° 13.xxx for the cache.
Stage 2: Go to the object at N 42° 13.498 / W 85° 40.284
and multiply the number painted on it by the number of letters in
its color (for anyone who is color blind the color is listed as the
clue #1) and then subtract 10. Plug this number in W 85° 40.0yy for
the cache.
Driving directions to Al Sabo: From US-131 South, take
the Centre St. Exit and go West on Centre. Centre becomes Q ave.
Continue on Q until you reach the 4-way stop at Texas Corners (8th
St. and Q Ave). Go North on 8th St. for 0.1 miles and turn right
(East) on Texas Drive. The parking area is on the left just past
Camp Rota-Kiwan (Boy Scout Camp). N 42° 12.730' / W 85° 40.435'
