Geocache Description:

The cache is placed in the beautiful park of Alnarp. Easy terrain, but could be a bit difficult to find.

A small cache placed in Alnarp park. A visit to the park is an experience, whatever the season. The park offers room for reflection and recreation, as well as a source of inspiration. It is lush and green in summer, and a glorious display of colour in the autumn, with an abundance of fruits and berries. In winter, the trees and shrubs show their beautiful forms to advantage, especially when accentuated by frost and snow. History The major part of the park has probably been forested for over 10 000 years! The park was designed and laid out during the years 1859-80, in the romantic landscape park tradition with undulating lawns and winding paths. Today it boasts a fine arboretum which, in terms of num-ber of species and varieties of trees and shrubs, is the second largest in Sweden. One of the largest collections of plants in Sweden Exotic plants have been collected for the park ever since it was first laid out. Alnarp specialises in the ligneous (woody) species and has a collection which includes over 2000 different species. A new section for conifers was laid out in 1975-78. The young trees are tended meticulously to secure healthy and attractive stands for the future. The wide range of plants is of great educational value and a delight to students and visitors alike. Almost every tree, shrub or plant is labelled with its name in Latin and Swedish.
